I recently read the book Adopted for Life by Russell Moore. I was surprised by how moving and challenging the book was--I could hardly put it down! Moore tells the story of he and his wife's adoption of two Russian boys weaving in the Bible's teaching of our adoption in Christ. Spiritually speaking, we have all been adopted and the church is now our family.

The book is not just for those who are considering adoption. Moore says, "In this book I want to call us all to consider how encouraging adoption--whether we adopt or whether we help others adopt--can help us peer into the ancient mystery of our faith in Christ and can help us restore the fracturing unity and the atrophied mission of our congregation." As he later explains, "The gospel of Jesus Christ means our families and churches ought to be at the forefront of the adoption of orphans close to home and around the world."

Regardless of whether you have ever considered adoption, you should consider reading this book. It was compelling. I finished the book grateful for what God has done for me through Christ in adopting me into his family, and prayerfully considering how I could help others experience this blessing as well.
